Christine Lengvari '68 has spent decades quietly shaping the institutions she loves. As President and CEO of Lengvari Financial, she has built her practice around a simple but powerful conviction: that financial knowledge, used well, is a powerful tool for good and that expertise is most valuable when shared.

Trained as a Chartered Accountant with specializations in Business Valuations and Mergers and Acquisitions, Christine describes her career path as eclectic. She started with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Concordia University and worked at the Montreal Children's Hospital. She pursued an MBA at Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario where she recently marked her 50th anniversary as an alumna, and pursued further studies at McGill University. She has lectured in financial accounting at both McGill University and the University of Natal in Durban, a posting that led to one of the most defining chapters of her life. She spent six years in South Africa, she founded a non-profit organization to raise funds by means of a lottery for job creation projects in disadvantaged communities in Zululand. She fell in love with the place and its people.

When she was called home to Montreal, she channeled that instinct into the world of financial advising and now specializes in legacy giving. Most people understand life insurance but the philanthropic side of estate planning remains unfamiliar territory for many, and that is precisely where she does her most meaningful work. Most recently, she played a key role in establishing the Sacred Hearts Planned Giving Program. In 2013, Christine was appointed to the first Advisory Board of Manulife Bank and Trust. In 2014, she was named one of "50 Women of Influence in Canada's Life Insurance Industry" by the Insurance and Investment Journal.

Now transitioning into retirement, Christine shows little sign of slowing down. She volunteers with 60 Million Girls, an organization supporting women's education, empowerment and professional development, and has been appointed to the Board of Birds Canada, a national conservation charity with 25,000 volunteers. She continues to travel and keep in touch with family scattered around the world.

Christine is proof that a path less travelled can lead to meaningful change, and that a career built on numbers can also be a vehicle for remarkable generosity.
