GALA – with guest of honour, Mayor of Westmount

The Sacred Heart School of Montreal proudly raised close to $120,000 at The future at heart Gala event, held February 22, 2019. The event, held at Le Mount Stephen hotel, honoured Mayor of Westmount and alumna of Montreal’s only all girls English Catholic high school, Christina Smith. All proceeds benefit the school’s $5-million capital campaign, which includes the building of an auditorium, a wellness centre, and other major renovations.

The evening began with a cocktail, followed by a sit-down dinner. The menu that evening was carrot and ginger soup with coriander chantilly and pumpkin seed gremolata; herb-marinated onglet, with truffle aïoli, spinach, and pressed potato; and Glen Breton whisky pudding. Italian, French and New World wines were served.The cocktail and dinner were catered by Oliver and Bonacini at Le Mount Stephen hotel.
Décor was coordinated by Nadine Caban Christie and provided by Location Chic, Haute Balloon, and Joe’s Prop House; centrepieces by Fleuriste Jules d’Alcantara; and lighting by Marco Ferri Entertainment. Ryan Blau, PBL Photography, was the official photographer of the evening. The ambience was relaxed, yet elegant, set against the backdrop of the Elizabeth Ballroom’s unique lighting.
Speeches and Ground-breaking Announcement

Monsignor Francis Coyle CSS, pastor of St. Patrick’s Basilica, lead the room in prayer before dinner. Speeches were given by Roberto Di Giorgio, President of the school’s Board of Directors and Chair of the capital campaign; Shawn O’Donnell, Head of School at The Sacred Heart of Montreal; and Christina Smith, Mayor of Westmount. In her heartwarming speech, Mayor Smith said “I owe a lot to Sacred Heart and I never forget it”.

 

The date of the ground-breaking for the school’s new auditorium was announced by the President of the school’s Board of Directors, Roberto Di Giorgio. It will take place on June 25, 2019 at the school, located at 3635 Atwater.

 

Entertainment
The evening was emceed by Marco Ferri, and included performances by grade 9 student Jacqueline Van Aelst; an alumnae quartet composed of Nadia Floriani, Amanda Forgione, Alexandra Gagliano, and Gurleen Padda, along with the school’s Head of Fine Arts, Aran Waldbrook; and former La Voix contestant and alumna Deidra Chois Robertson.

The success of the Capital Campaign ensures that ongoing generations of young women will have access to the uniqueness of a Sacred Heart education.
