Parents' Guild

Parent support and involvement are vital to our school's success! At Sacred Heart, our Parents' Guild includes all parents who have a child at the school, and each and every one is entitled and encouraged to be an active participant.

The aim and objectives of the Guild are: to support the school's mission and philosophy through our volunteering efforts; to provide opportunities for parents to get to know each other and interact socially; and to assist the school financially with fundraising efforts for school projects and charitable initiatives.

The Parents' Guild Executive consists of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Class Representative Coordinator, along with the Head of School as Honourary President. In turn, each class has a designated representative to liaise with the other parents in their respective class. Class Representatives learn about school activities first-hand and bring suggestions to the table.

The Guild members attend regular monthly meetings to plan and organize the year's programme of activities. Throughout the year, our parent volunteers contribute in many ways: providing refreshments at Open House and tournaments, coordinating a self-defense course for our girls, arranging a Christmas Craft afternoon and Sacred Heart's Bazaar, decorating the school for events, to name a few.

Regular Parents' Guild Activities:

  • Salutatio Omnis – A wine and cheese reception held on a September evening to welcome our incoming parents coordinated by Sec. II parents.
  • Open House – An opportunity for parents to greet prospective families at the Parents' Guild refreshment stop well stocked with home-made baking and wonderful treats for our visitors.
  • White Tiger – A self-defense course open to girls at all levels and usually held in October.
  • Christmas Craft Workshop – In November, our girls and their families gather and enjoy an afternoon of crafting to create Christmas treasures.
  • Christmas Bazaar – Held in early December, this is our major fundraising event of the year. A baked goods table, craft table, and many vendor kiosks as well as a café are available for all to enjoy and to get a head start on their Christmas shopping.
  • Teacher Appreciation – In early February, this special breakfast is hosted by parents and gifts of appreciation are presented to our daughters' teachers as symbols of our gratitude.
