City House Foundation surpasses goal and raises over $25,800
at the
9th Annual Sacred Heart Open.
Once again, we were blessed with a glorious summer day as parents (past and present), alumnae, faculty, administrators, and friends of the school came out to support Sacred Heart on June 18th at Golf Ste-Rose.
Our Religious of the Sacred Heart joined us for brunch, sending off the day's golfers with best wishes. Several newcomers teed-off alongside our "old faithful" foursomes as we raised funds to support bursaries, enrichment programmes and restoration projects at the school. Villa Toscana and the Irish Embassy Pub very generously supplied on-course refreshments at the 14th hole. Every hole was sponsored and a number of first-time and specialty sponsors provided support for brunch, cocktails, water, wine and carts.
The City House Foundation Trustees were thrilled with the response as over 76 golfers participated in this year's tournament. Alumna Ann McCoy from Toronto drove in for the event and was joined in her foursome by alums Letizia Randaccio, Maureen Brown and Jane Howson. Letizia was the 2010 recipient of the Founders' Cup, narrowly edging out young alum Melissa Hindley for this year's honour. First-time participants, Loyola old boy Mike Kostin along with his wife Darryl, son Jeff and buddy Elmore Benjamin waltzed away with the tournament trophy and inscribed putters.
With just over 90 guests for cocktails and dinner, the evening was also great fun. Raffle prizes and our silent auction meant almost all went home with souvenirs. It was the live auction, however, that stole the show as animated bidders wrangled over old Montreal Forum seats and a wall of Team Italia and FIFA memorabilia. Great job by auctioneer Martin Ross!
We are very grateful to Mosé Persico of CTV who joined us for a day of golf and emcee'd our evening's activities. Grazie mille!
"THANK YOU" to one and all who made this year's tournament a tremendous success -- an incredible achievement on which to build.
