City House Foundation

The City House Foundation... your generosity at work.

Sacred Heart donors, sponsors and event participants have always given generously to the school. Bursaries, student enrichment programmes and building projects are reliant on your donations and involvement.

Here are the ways your financial support has helped Sacred Heart excel over the past decade:

The Annual Giving Fund is the school's primary source of funding for bursaries vital to Sacred Heart students whose families require financial assistance. This past year, your donations helped 49 students attend Sacred Heart. In addition this fund provides equipment, teaching resources, and special funding for students attending conferences and competitions.

Unless otherwise specified, Matching Gifts and Donations in Memory or Recognition of an alumna, parent, teacher or friend of the school are also directed to this fund.

The Sacred Heart Open Golf Tournament generates funds for the historic restoration of the City House and property. Ticket sales, sponsorships and gifts-in-kind all contribute to this cause.

Since its inception in 2001, we have painted and repaired the chapel roof, upgraded the front entrance and main doors, sandblasted, re-pointed and repaired stonework on the building exterior, installed outdoor ground lighting highlighting the building, renovated the study hall, and restored the stone fence along Dr. Penfield.

The Spring Gala has raised money for specific learning facilities improvements for your daughters. Guest attendance as well as direct financial and gift donations all add to this event's success.

Over the years, your generosity has assisted with automating the library system, the expansion and refurbishment of the library and resource centre, installation of retractable basketball nets in the gym, complete renovation of the Science Lab in Room 101, upgrading the "Orbis" with new lighting, whiteboards and furnishings, fresh paint and refinished floors, and technology improvements (smartboards, projectors and internet access) in classrooms.

The Chapel Fund contributions are earmarked for the replacement of the ten stained glass chapel windows (Let in the Light Programme) and resources for the chapel's maintenance, repair and refurbishment (Preserve a Pew Programme).

Special Funds are designated from time to time for specific purposes, usually at the donor's request.

The City House Foundation also supports entrance scholarships to incoming students who demonstrate academic excellence.

Gifts of cash, securities, life insurance, bequests and gifts-in-kind are eligible for tax receipts or tax credits as outlined and prescribed by the Canada Revenue Agency.
