What is Annual Giving?
Annual Giving sustains The Sacred Heart School of Montreal’s commitment to quality education. It is one of the most important areas in the school’s fundraising efforts. Our Annual Giving Campaign consists of several areas: Greatest Needs of the School, Bursaries and Scholarships Fund, Enrichment Programs and Building Improvements and Enhancements.
Why do we need it?
It allows us to offer bursaries to students, whose parents may need a little help in bridging the gap of affording tuition, the rare privilege of a Sacred Heart education; it also allows us to supplement our enrichment programs thus keeping us competitive in the private school market.
Who should give to Annual Giving?
EVERYONE who is a part of the Sacred Heart community can give in their own way. Contributions to Annual Giving cover a wide range, from the $5 or $10 a young alumna in CEGEP might send to many thousands of dollars. We aim for 100% participation.
Why is percentage of participation important?
High participation in Annual Giving is an important way for us to demonstrate to others in our community and to prospective families the commitment and dedication of our parents, alumnae and friends to the school and our students. Foundations and corporations awarding grants to an educational institution often look at the level of parent, alumnae and community participation in the school’s Annual Giving.
I can’t make a big gift. Does my support still matter?
YES! We need and value every family’s support in every way. Your gift, regardless of the amount, will provide additional resources and will often serve to encourage others to make gifts. Everyone who is solicited is asked to give generously. An appropriate gift is one in proportion to your ability to give. Corporate matching gifts enable donors to increase the value of their gifts and provide a valuable source of revenue for the school.
Where are Annual Giving dollars spent?
Gifts to Annual Giving provide unrestricted support for the operation of Sacred Heart including professional development for faculty and staff, program and classroom materials, student activities and clubs, athletic programs, financial aid, and maintenance of the buildings and grounds.
When should I pledge or make a gift?
Sooner rather than later! It is to your benefit to take advantage of the tax incentives if you donate prior to December 31st. However, pledge payments and gifts can be made through the end of the fiscal year on June 30th. Once you have made your annual gift or pledge, you will not receive another Annual Giving solicitation until the next academic year.

What kind of recognition do you provide donors?
Your gift will be acknowledged in The City House Foundation Annual Report, which is available on the school’s website. You can make your gift anonymously, if you prefer, by directing the Advancement Office not to list your name.
